TONIGHT from 5:00-7:00pm, come to Clemente for our Open House. Teachers will give 4 identical presentations: at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and 6:30pm. Come meet your children’s teachers, hear what they’ll be learning, and find out how you can support your students. Families who visit every resource table will be entered into a raffle!
We will also have a Bake Sale at Open House. Money raised will support school activities.

The beginning of the school year is off to a wonderful start! Students are meeting new teachers, learning their routines, and setting the tone for a successful school year. We've had excellent attendance this week, and we want to thank you for that!
Please note that there is no school on Monday 9/7 or Tuesday 9/8 due to Labor Day and a teacher training day. We hope you have a wonderful long weekend, and we will see your students at 8:20am on Wednesday 9/9! Please see the September calendar for more important dates.
We also want to let you know that we conducted a routine fire drill today, September 4th.
Practicing our emergency procedures is a vital part of maintaining a safe environment for our students and staff. We are happy to report that all of our students did a wonderful job following instructions, staying calm, and evacuating the school quickly and safely. Because safety drills can sometimes prompt questions or feelings from students, we wanted to let you know so you can ask them about it this evening. It’s a great opportunity to reinforce that these drills are just a way we practice keeping everyone safe.

I recommend the New Haven Free Public Library’s (NHFPL) Summer Learning Program! The attached flyer has information about Summer Learning Kick-Off events, where your child can sign up for a library card, get a Summer Reading Log, and participate in fun activities.
The NHFPL Wilson branch is also offering a summer program called READy for the Grade, which is designed for students entering K-3rd grade who are below grade level in reading.
Also attached is information about other summer reading programs from nearby businesses that may interest your child. Your child can participate in more than one summer reading program at a time! Prizes for reading include two free tickets to a Hartford Yard Goats baseball game, free personal pizzas from Pizza Hut, and a free book from Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Reminder: Families are invited to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with the Clemente community at our annual assembly TOMORROW, Friday 5/22 at 9:30am.
The assembly will feature student performances including a fashion show, poetry, music, dance, and informational presentations. (Please note that many but not all students will be performing. All students will be attending the assembly.) Students with Asian American or Pacific Islander heritage are strongly encouraged to wear cultural dress!
